#30 - CONTROLLING MOISTURE LEVEL IN YOUR ROOM

#30 - CONTROLLING MOISTURE LEVEL IN YOUR ROOM

With spring here and summer around the corner, we need to start thinking about how to control the humidity (moisture) level in our rooms as Lash Tech’s for our glue to work & cure perfectly.

**Remember that it is moisture that cures (sets) our glue and too little or too much will vastly effect our glue.**

The best way to monitor the humidity level in your room is with a digital hygrometer (instrument used to measure humidity). You can buy them cheaply from JayCar etc for $20-$30 just like this one:

Depending on the brand of glue that you are using having a humidity level in your lash room between 45-65% is the typical range that your glue will work best in.

LOWERING YOUR HUMIDITY LEVELS:

Here are some cheap and effective ways that you can LOWER your humidity level in your room. (Please note a lot of these methods below are not ‘quick fix’ methods and may take 1-3 days to really have a noticeable effect.)

  • Air Conditioning - set your AC to a ‘dry’ setting to remove moisture.

  • Fans - fans will help move the air and help with evaporation. Put on some "Crazy in Love" and you've got yourself a Beyonce show..

  • Kitty Litter - yes! Place a large open box of kitty litter in your room (maybe under your bed so it’s out of sight). The ones which are silica based work the best.

  • Baking Soda - is a natural odor and moisture absorber. You could place some on a plate or dish around your room or near your lash station & bed.

  • Dehumidifier - see photo of them from the Target website:

INCREASING YOUR HUMIDITY LEVELS:

To ADD moisture; it will take just under 1 liter of water to increase the moisture level in an average sized bedroom by 10%.

Here are some cheap and effective ways that you can INCREASE your humidity level in your room. (Please note a lot of these methods below are not ‘quick fix’ methods and may take 1-3 days to really have a noticeable effect.)

  • Water Spray - Spray some water around your room from a squirty bottle.

  • Plants - Plants will naturally place moisture into your environment. Keep them nice & watered.

  • Fresh flowers - Not only will they look smashing in your lash room, but you would be amazed at how much moisture they let into a room.

  • Fish Tank - Another great way to add moisture into your room, give you a chance to build a Nemo family!

  • Boiling water - Properly one of the most immediate way to add moisture to your room. You could add a couple of drops of essential oils to the water to make the room also smell yummy.

  • Nano Mister- This little beauty sprays a very fine mist, adding a small amount of moisture to your client's eyelashes after you finish the set. Be careful not to get too close to the eyes when you are misting, to avoid big drops of water on the lashes. Ideally, you want to hold it about 30cm away and switch it on. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE YOURS
