#40 - THE NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS WHO CAN & SHOULD KEEP
Why do we love New Years Resolutions so much? Because it gives us a sense of a new, fresh start. A new game to play in life where we become excited and motivated to achieve those goals we set.
Sure, there are the personal goals; lose weight, start a new hobbie, find your soulmate, eat less chocolate (lol jks), be grateful of something each day, etc, etc.
But the biggest challenge every year is to come up with and stick to professional New Year's resolutions -- things that will make you more creative, productive, and generally more content at WORK.
One of our priorities at Locks Lash is to help our students and customers better their business, whether it's supplying the highest quality goods & training, business advice, all the quirky behind the scenes, Q&A's and tips that we love to share.
We decided to share 6 of our ideas for New Years Resolutions based around helping yourself as a business owner and inevitably, helping your business and keeping them simple enough where they CAN be accomplished.
1. DESIGNATE AN ELECTRONICS- FREE ZONE:
Our brains recognize the brightness from phones, computer monitors, and even TV's as external light, which sends the signal that we should be awake. That's why it's harder for so many of us to fall asleep when we're exposed to too much screen time at night.
The verdict? Put the devices down before bed.
2. EMBRACE EMERGING TECHNOLOGY:
In case you haven't heard us bang on about it, visual content is a pretty big deal in marketing and plays a BIGGG part in advertising and overall expanding your business. So as confusing as technology seems to be, break it down, take the time to understand it, update the Insta & Fb apps and post away!!
3. TAKE BREAKS:
Despite 90% of employers encouraging breaks, it seems that only 45% of us are okay with taking them.
So what's
But it turns out that the opposite is true. There's tremendous value in breaks, and we could all stand to benefit from them.
4. ASK FOR HELP:
This is always a point that I know we all struggle with as everyone wants to be their own tough boss lady/man super hero who can do everything themselves, however it's not the most sustainable or healthiest viewpoint to have in the long run.
It seems that there's an epidemic of fear when it comes to asking for help at work. Many of us sense that asking questions about help in products, retention issues, business advice, etc, will make us look less competent or less able in the industry. BUT when we don't ask questions, we're actually setting ourselves up for failure, by forcing completion of a task without all of the necessary information.
5. READ MORE:
The most successful people never stop learning. It's one of the best ways to keep up with industry trends, learn from experts, and get the creative juices flowing.
6. MOVE TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF YOUR CAREER:
"Next" can mean different things
Don't let that scare you out of it, though. If you don't start moving forward now, it's easy to keep putting it off. Even if you're happy
