đ€Â What's the difference UV glue vs traditional lash extension glue?
- Traditional: cures via moisture (humidity dependent)
- UV/LED: cures via light (environment largely irrelevant)
Result: near-instant curing with UV lashing that the technician FULLY controls.Â

đ€ Is it safe?Â
Yes, when used correctly.
Safety comes down to control of light exposure and proper technique.
It is the same with traditional lash extensions - are they safe? Yes, but only when correctly applied.Â
There are two parts concerning safety with UV/LED lashing;
1. Light exposure (main factor)
UV/LED systems use focused light to cure the adhesive instantly. The risk comes from light entering the eye, not from the curing itself.
How light exposure is controlled:
- Correct angle of light (shown in the course - very important)
- Very short exposure (typically 1â2 seconds per cure)
When done properly, exposure is minimal and controlled and hence no damage to the client nor the technician.Â
2. The Glue
Sensitivities and allergies can still occur with UV/LED glue. The same precautions are thus recommended to be taken as you would with traditional lash glue. However curing is faster than traditional glue, which can reduce exposure time to vapours and allergies and sensitivity occurrences are reportable much lower.Â

đ€ Where do problems happen in UV / LED lashing?
Issues almost always come from poor technique, not the system:
- No proper eye coverage
- Incorrect lamp angle
- Inconsistent curing distance
â ïž Bottom line on safety â ïž
UV lash systems are safe in trained hands.
They give you more control over curing, but they also require more control over your setup.
If the light is managed properly, risk stays low.
We HIGHLY recommend that you do our course before embarking upon doing UV lashing as you need to know the correct techniques and technology to ensure safety for both you and your clients.Â

đ€Â Is retention better than traditional glue?
Strong evidence in practice: yes, but conditional.
Why:
- No under-curing due to low humidity
- No shock polymerisation from high humidity
- More consistent bond formation
However:
- Application technique still matters
- Poor isolation or placement will still fail regardless of curing method

đ€ Is the UV system better for people with allergies?
It is not 100% that people will not react to this glue, however there is a much higher chance they wonât.Â
If clients had a sensitivity to traditional lash glue with cyanoacrylate in it, there is a high chance that they may not have a sensitivity to the UV glue.Â
So it is recommended to always do a patch test before with especially sensitive clients.
