Perfect Brows are one of the best things you can do for your face. It shapes your face, determines whether you look angry or awesome and when you nail the right colour whether it’s with brow make up or dye, well you just fall in love with yourself that little bit more. 

Henna is a product that can help you love your brows without having to spend more time with them than your loved ones. 

Henna has been around for a very long time and has recently become even more popular and used for the look it creates on brows. 

Henna is a dye that is derived from the Henna plant (aka Lawsonia inermis, but who’s showing off now hey?) and is naturally a reddish/brownish colour. 

You can use Henna for temporary body art/tattoos, Henna hair dye and Brow colour. The beauty with Henna is it stains the skin along with the hair so creates a deeper brow colour than your regular tint. Regular tint will stain the skin for up to 2 days whereas Henna will stain the skin for approx a week (sometimes longer depending on the client) so you get a longer lasting result. 

Henna is also plant based and is activated with a special water based product so does not need any chemical element like traditional lash and brow tints and is hence 99% natural- nothing is 100% natural anymore so 99% is as good as it’s going to get! 

WHO SHOULD GET HENNA BROWS?

Henna is great for clients who want to see what microblading is going to look like on their brows or who have fine hairs, light hairs, gappy brows or anyone who wants a more defined shape. I have seen some of the most amazing dark bushy brows made even more beautiful with Henna as you are putting colour on the skin and creating a beautiful base for the brow. 

However with anything, there's a technique to applying it. You may have seen brow jobs gone wrong where the brow is too dark, looks fake etc (see below photos of what brows should NOT look like)… This is all in the application.  

It’s very important to talk to your client about what look they want. There is no “one brow fits all” and the look your client wants is super important as you tweak your colours, shape and application to get the client the look they want. Some clients want deep and dark all the way across, some want a more natural start to the brow, some want that super dark shade, whereas some brunettes want their brows lighter than the natural colour. You can add more layers of Henna and can lighten the look with remover if you make a mistake so not to worry if you go over or underboard as it can be fixed. 

The total treatment time is around 30-40 minutes and you can expect it to last around the 2-4 week mark. The lasting time depends on aftercare and skin type however 2-4 weeks is the standard.
