Seasonal Changes & Lash Glue: What Every Lash Artist Needs to Know

Seasonal Changes & Lash Glue: What Every Lash Artist Needs to Know

Let’s talk about something we all deal with but rarely prepare for properly… Weather changes and how they mess with our glue.

If your lash sets are suddenly taking longer to apply, not lasting as well, or just feeling off, don’t panic. You’re probably not doing anything wrong. It could just be the seasonal shift playing games with your glue.

Here’s what’s really going on, and what you can do to fix it… fast

🌦️ Why Glue Gets Moody With the Weather

Your lash adhesive is a little like Goldilocks. It wants conditions to be just right.
That means:

  • Humidity between 45–60%
  • Room temp around 20–22°C

Anything outside of that, and your glue can:

Dry too fast
❌ Dry too slow
❌ Not bond properly at all

☀️ Summer = Fast Drying

In warmer weather or humid climates (Hi, places like Queensland & Florida 👋), your glue will cure faster. That sounds great… but if it cures before you’ve attached the lash? Say goodbye/ciao/arriverdverci  to that bond.

What to do:

  1. Use a slower-drying glue in summer or lower your humidity.
  2. Work faster; but smarter. Pre-map your sets if needed.
  3. Store your glue in a cool, dry, dark place (NOT the fridge).
  4. Try a dehumidifier if you’re working in a high-humidity salon.

❄️ Winter = Slow Drying = Stickies Everywhere

In winter or low humidity? Your glue slows right down. This can lead to:

  • Stickies (lashes sticking together)
  • Poor retention
  • Prolonged set times = frustration

What to do:

  1. Use a faster-drying glue.
  2. Warm up your room with a heater (but keep airflow circulating).
  3. Try a nano mister or small humidifier to boost humidity.
  4. Don’t forget to shake your glue well before use (yes, even in winter!).

🧪 Keep an Eye on Your Setup

You should always be checking your lash room’s:

  1. Humidity (Every trained lash artists knows to have a hygrometer)
  2. Temperature
  3. Glue drop size and frequency (change your drop every 20–30 mins)

If your glue feels weird, don’t push through. Adjust your environment or switch products. It’ll save you time, stress, and client complaints.

If you’re still experiencing poor retention after this, we strongly recommend that you complete our 100% online Holy Retention Course - created by Retention Master & World Leading Educator Derik Hayes.

At Locks Lash, we have glues that perform best in different temps and conditions. If you’re unsure which one’s right for your lash room, view our glue chart. If you need more help, you can DM us on Instagram.

If purchasing a dehumidifier or air con, heater ect.. gets too pricey. You can switch up your glue to suit the season. (glue guide below)
