Difference Between Korean & Traditional Lash Lift?

Difference Between Korean & Traditional Lash Lift?

So we’ve seen it all over our social media feeds, but let’s dive into what is a Korean Lash Lift. This advanced technique removes the use of needing a glue or a balm to hold the lashes in place on the shield. We are purely focusing on each individual step to ensure each step is processed correctly. This will prevent underwhelming results or over processing of the lashes.

Difference Example 1: 🤔

With a traditional lash lift the steps require you to prep the lashes, choose the right size shield, glue the lashes to the shield, apply and process step 1, remove step1, apply step 2 (if some lashes have fallen off you’ll need to glue the lashes back in place), process step 2 then remove, as an additional step you can tint the lashes prior to applying your nourishing oil or cream. After all of that your client opens their eyes and the results are blah… So what went wrong during a traditional lash lift?

Your glue adds a barrier in between the lashes and your solutions, meaning you’re almost guessing the processing times, even with performing quality control checking you are underwhelmed with the results and these results may only last 4-6 weeks. But not to entirely deter you from a traditional lash lift as these are still wonderful ways to lift lashes. As some clients may not like the look of a Korean Lash Lift. Traditional Lash Lifts can deliver a stunning natural curl and lift.

Korean Lash Lift on the other hand focuses on each step individually, ensuring it is processed correctly and removes the second guessing. We are using a glueless powder you mix with your solutions, this removes the barrier. So there is nothing in the way of your lashes and solutions, when you place the solutions on the lashes it will penetrate the cortex (the inside of your lashes, past the cuticle) to soften the bonds ready for it to be set in place. This also removes the step of placing your shield on first. By using specialised flat type shields or brushing directly down onto your undereye gel pad you are purely focused on step 1 working. After removing your step 2 also mixed with the glueless powder you can with ease lift the lashes up onto your chosen shield type and set in place again using no glue. Korean Lash Lifts are focused on lash health and safety and because you’re removing the barrier of the glue it can last up to 8 weeks and more.

This may sound too good to be true, but focusing on each step to execute beautiful results each and every time is a game changer. Difference Example 2: 🧐

A couple of terms you need to know;

Cysteamine Hydrochloride: is an ingredient used in some lash lifting solutions to help gently break down the bonds in thehair, so lashes can be reshaped (lifted) without using strong or harsh chemicals like traditional perms. It’s a kinder, more nourishing option that still gives you that lifted, curled lash look.

Thioglycolate: does the same thing as cysteamine hydrochloride does, however it’s a powerful ingredient that works well, but it can be a bit harsh, which is why some newer formulas use gentler alternatives like cysteamine.

Korean Lash Lifts work best with Cysteamine Hydrochloride solutions as you can bring this through to the tips of the lashes. A Thioglycolate (also known as TGA) solution is too strong of a solution as this is a fast acting chemical that will cause the lashes to process quickly and not be safe for the tips of the lashes. (Ensure you check the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) or packaging to see what active ingredient base your solution is, this will be one of the first ingredients listed.)

Other Differences;

Healthier for Your Lashes: Infused with gentle ingredients, meaning no brittle or over-processed lashes, but still giving longevity of the lift.

Stonger Lift: Expect a strong beautiful lift from the roots.

Customisable Lift: You can adjust the curl based on your eye shape, shield type and personal preference of every client.

Longer Lasting: While lash lifts typically last 6–8 weeks, Korean lash lifts tend to hold their shape for up to 10 weeks.
