BROW LAMINATION FAQ’S

Can you fix uneven laminated eyebrows?

Yes you can, however, you want to avoid doing this correction right away on a freshly laminated eyebrow. Clients sometimes have a stronger follicular direction on one brow or in sections of their eyebrows. If this is the case, the best thing to do is note this down on their client information cards, so when they come in for their next appointment you can adjust the processing times accordingly in those areas.

My client's brows did not laminate enough?

Are you using fresh products? Has your sachet been opened for too long or expired? Is it being stored correctly? This is the first step to check when figuring out why the brows did not laminate enough or at all.
Have you processed them long enough? Some clients have really coarse brow hairs and it may need the longer side of the processing time to soften the bonds.
Have you placed the solution evenly across the brow hairs? When placing on step 1 you need to ensure that all the hairs are coated evenly, if it is thicker in some spots and not in others this can cause the hairs to process at different times. It's a matter of process of elimination to pinpoint why they did not laminate.

What is a Brow Lamination?

This is the process of placing a chemical solution on the eyebrow hairs that will soften the bonds in the hair for you to create a new shape. You will then set it in place with your step 2 solution. This product allows the hairs to have more flexibility to move them into a beautiful fluffy shape, assisting in covering any gaps in your eyebrows.

How long does it last?

A brow lamination can last anywhere from 6-8 weeks with the correct aftercare

Can every client have a brow lamination?

A brow lamination is not ideal for every client, this is why you should always perform your consultation before treatment. Although our lamination system is non toxic and safe to use on the skin it is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding due to elevated sensitivity caused by hormones produced during and after pregnancy/breastfeeding. Ideally you would want the client to wait 3 months after they have finished breastfeeding.

Do not perform a lamination on clients who have just had any recent microblading or permanent make up, sunburn, sensitive skin. You also want to take caution with those clients who have psoriasis/eczema.

How much should I charge for a Brow Lamination?

The price does vary depending on the area you live in, however it is industry standard retail price in Australia for Brow Laminations to cost between $70 and $120. This also depends on your salon and experience. You can also upsell with add-on services like a brow wax and/or tint.

What is the Aftercare for Brow Laminations?

By following the correct aftercare you can achieve those beautiful long lasting results of up to 6-8 weeks retention.
  • Keep the brows hydrated, ensure your clients are taking home some sort of aftercare for their brows. This can be the Step 3 nourishing oil, Locks Lash BrowGasm or Castor Oil.
  • Avoid applying heavy makeup (as removing the makeup can disrupt the brow lamination)
  • Avoid swimming, saunas, and exercise for 24hrs as an excess amount of moisture can cause slight curling or frizz to the brow hairs.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat
  • Avoid chemical skin care products such as; AHA’s, BHA’s, Retinoids, Retin - A, around the brow area for 72 hours before and after the service.
  • Avoid self-tanning products on the face one week prior and 48 hours after the service.

Can I wax and tint in the same service?

Yes you absolutely can and a great way to finish off the service. We recommend applying the tint in between Step 2 and 3 of the lamination process. Then you would then go in with your hair removal either it be a wax or threading.

Where can I get those lamination brushes from?

These little brushes are quickly trending across social media to get those beautifully combed out eyebrows. Super satisfying! Did you know that they are actually reusable interdental brushes? You can find them at your local supermarket in the dental section. For a pack of 10 costing you around $2. Who would've thought a toothpick flossing tool became popular for the beauty industry.

Will a Brow Lamination cause hair loss?

No. If a brow lamination is done correctly this will not cause hair loss. Your eyebrows will shed naturally in cycles as this is the process of hair rejuvenation and healthy growth. Your hairs shed at certain stages and regrow as it needs to. To prevent excessive shedding caused by dry hair or lack of nutrients to the follicle ensure your client is using the correct aftercare to keep the hairs hydrated. Hair loss will only occur if you have over processed the brows. In this case keeping up with aftercare to encourage new healthy growth.
