Is becoming a Lash Tech worth it?
Short Answer - YES!
But I’m gonna bet you’re here for the long answer, so here it is…
Being ‘worth it’ to me comes down to a few factors:
- Is the activity fun/enjoyable
LET’S TALK MONEY: Your average lash tech is spending approximately $12-$18 per lash set they do.
They may charge anywhere between $70-$200 for a set of lashes (depending on skill level, style, location etc), so you can safely assume you have a good profit margin per set regardless of if you charge on the lower or higher end of the scale.
You can do the math on how much you can earn if you do 1,2,6 sets per day.
Here are some lash tech’s on our facebook forum breaking down how well they have done:
So I think we can safely assume there is a lot of money to be made as a lash tech. And for that reason ‘worth it!’.
LET’S TALK TIME: I recently asked a question on our facebook forum out to thousands of lash techs ‘is becoming a lash tech worth it?’. The most common response I got was ‘Yes - because it gives me more time to spend with my family’ (or along those words).
If you decide to become a lash tech, you have the option to be self employed, or go secure a job in a salon.
If you decide to be self employed and run your own lash business from home, this puts you in the driver's seat of all things time & flexibility. Imagine moving from a 9-5 job where you have to physically be in one location, commute in and back each day, sacrificing time with your partner or children or even with yourself, and moving to a schedule that is completely curated by the queen of your life.. YOURSELF.
When it comes to having time & flexibility, being a lash tech is ‘worth it!’.
LET’S TALK FUN: If you love what you do then you never have to work a day in your life… that’s the saying right?
Being a lash tech has its highs and lows like any job, but when it’s your job to make the world (literally) a more beautiful place, to give people confidence and to create works of art, all while being able to work the hours that you want to work and make excellent money, well I would say (one more time for the back row) ‘worth it!’.
